How To Setup An Ad Sequence In YouTube

If you run any YouTube Ads then you will want to learn more about the new Ad Sequence format for running video ad campaigns on YouTube.

In this video you will be walked through the process to setup a YouTube ad campaign using the new ad sequence method and also cover some other tips on how you should configure your YouTube ad campaigns.

To tag your YouTube Ads correctly, you need to add the three mandatory UTM parameters to the end of the URL - ?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=campaign_name_no_spaces

If you want to add extra parameters then add in utm_content= and utm_term=

We normally use utm_content for the name of the ad and utm_term for the targeting we are doing

Ideally we also use {lpurl}{ignore}?camp_id={campaignid}&grp_id={adgroupid}&source={network}&place={placement}&tgt={targetid}&phys={loc_physical_ms}&int={loc_interest_ms}&device={device}&adid={creative} in the hope that YouTube eventually fix their tracking correctly and then we can get rich information in Google Analytics covering important information at the time of the click, like which placement, which device, where the user is located, which network and more.
